The Board of Directors for the Kalaeloa Heritage and Legacy Foundation has an open position! The mission of KHLF is through partnership, planning, advocacy and stewardship, the Kupa ’āina of Honouliuli accepts the kuleana to preserve and protect our kūpuna, historical sites and mo‘olelo of Kalaeloa. We are also committed to assuring that cultural traditions and practices of nā ‘ōiwi o Kalaeloa are perpetuated. Duties and qualifications are listed below.
DUTIES:
1. Serve as a trusted advisor to the Foundation, its Board, its Executive Officers, and Staff
2. Fulfill the three (3) obligations:
- Duty of Care – exercise good faith, care, skill and diligence
- Duty of Loyalty – act for the good of the Foundation
- Duty of Obedience – be faithful to the mission
3. Be an active participant in Board meetings and Foundation activities/events
4. Serve willingly on Committees or task forces or special assignments
5. Complete assigned tasks thoroughly and on-time
6. Remain informed of Board or Committee matters and be prepared for meetings by reviewing available documentation, minutes, notes, etc. beforehand
7. Participate in fundraising for the Foundation
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Passion for the Foundation’s mission
- Proven record of prior Board membership or other leadership experience
- A background in Business, Government, Philanthropy/Nonprofits, State/Federal Law, Finance/Accounting, Cultural Resource Management, Historic Preservation, Land Management, Conservation, or Education
- Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency with both written and verbal communication
- Ability to be diplomatic, persuade and cultivate relationships, and facilitate/build consensus
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and ethical behavior
